On the 9th July the Primary students enjoyed a day out on the River Dart.  Starting in Totnes, they took the boat down the river to Dartmouth (much to the delight of all the elderly people already on board… well, some of them anyway!). The weather was perfect, and they managed to spot some of the local wildlife as they went, including herons, egrets and even a couple of sunbathing seals.

After a picnic in the park at Dartmouth it was time to cross the river on the passenger ferry to Kingswear.  At Kingswear they visited the small Kingswear Museum (inside a converted railway carriage) and learnt a bit about the golden age of steam.. before hopping onto a steam train to try it out for themselves.

After a scenic ride through the beautiful South Devon countryside, including a very long tunnel (great excitement 🙂 ) the train arrived at Paignton.  A short walk to the bus station and they climbed aboard a double decker bus for the journey back to Totnes.

See below for photos – a great day was had by all!
